Courtenay Little Theatre presents
Night of Shooting Stars

In the tradition of Raymond Chandler and film noir, CLT brings you Night of Shooting Stars.  It's Vancouver 1952, somewhere between the cold war and cool jazz.  Private Investigator Nat Williams just wants some ginger beef but the beautiful young woman in the next booth is weeping.  He offers her his handkerchief and his business card.  Their search for her kidnapped son will take them across the country, into each other's arms, and toward a destiny that lurks in the shadows like a spy.  Written and directed by Michael Armstrong, Night of Shooting Stars is a heart stopping romance and a full throttle thriller filled with humour and unexpected twists that will lift you up and throw your over the brink like a roller coaster.

The Sid Williams Theatre presents
Dallaire's Story of Courage and Conviction

Sunday Oct. 5th, 2008 at 7:30 pm

LGen The Hon. Roméo Dallaire (Ret) is a true hero and an outspoken leader for the 21st century.

A decorated Lieutenant General, Dallaire served 35 years with the Canadian Armed Forces. His best-selling book, Shake Hands With the Devil , is a stirring account of his experience as the Force Commander of the United Nations Assistance Mission to Rwanda .

Dallaire's story shares the most extreme results of being given responsibility without authority. He was limited by immovable parameters, overseen by an organization that didn't fully support the mission, and put into situations that forced him to question ethics every step of the way.

Dallaire's presentations discuss leadership and conflict resolution, illustrated with stories of his own experiences. He inspires listeners to address the ethical and moral issues in conflicts and insists that governments put humanity above political and economic interests.
